SCR Systems for Fossil-fuel Fired Boilers and Gas Turbines
Evonik Steag has provided SCR management services on an individual unit basis, multi-unit per plant basis, or on a fleet-wide approach for almost two decades. Our own SCR management needs arose from SCR retrofits required by legislation of several Western European countries including Austria, German, Holland, etc. that became effective in late 1983. As a result, Evonik Steag had to retrofit all of our bituminous coal-fired generating capacity, as well as our industrial cogeneration plants. This necessitated our developed the necessary expertise and procedures for managing our SCR systems on a year-round basis in a effective and cost efficient manner.
Since 1986, when our first SCR was retrofitted to a coal-fired unit, Evonik Steag has accumulated extensive SCR operating experience with all types of fuels being either co-fired with coal or directly. Currently, Evonik Steag owns and operates or partially owns bituminous coal-fired and industrial power stations which feature 25 generating units equipped with 17 high-dust, 1 low-dust and 6 tail-end SCR systems with a capacity of 7,5000 MW. I addition, Evonik Steag operates 9 waste-to-energy plants which are equipped with tail-end SCRs.
Evonik Steag has also provided SCR design and engineering services to other SCR operators totaling more than 60,000 MW of capacity and anhydrous NH3 systems totaling 30,000 MW of capacity in Europe and around the world.
